Tuesday 5/2/11

Over the course of many years I have seen photos and video clips showing people celebrating what was reported to be about the death of Americans or others whom they had a hand in murdering. Those images will always be burned into my memory.

Last night our President reported that the US Military had conducted an operation that lead to the death of Osama bin Laden. I take comfort that he will no longer be able to spread evil, hate and destruction to other countries. Justice has in fact been served to this man. I think about the many people whom were injured or lost their lives as a result of his actions. I now wonder who will take Osama bin Laden place.

I watched video clips showing people celebrating what was reported to be about the death of Osama bin Laden and others with him. It was also reported that America has demonstrated having “power” of superiority as a result of this operation. Those images will also always be burned into my memory.

Gabriel Mirabeau once said that “Nothing baffles the schemes of evil people so much as the calm composure of great souls.” I understand that mean people suck! I also understand that arrogance diminishes wisdom. Isn’t arrogance like poison that you have taken and are now watching for the other person to die?

Regardless of circumstances I find it difficult to take rejoice in anyone’s death. There are many ways to go about healing. Arrogance may have its place in politics; it must not be a part of healing. I believe that it is important for us to have honest discussions about topics that are uncomfortable and that we may not agree about; talking with each other not at each other!

Jimi Hendrix summed it up nicely…“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” …and you may too!
