Frostbite and Freezer Burn

A blanket of cold air has covered most of the US. Balmy states are now experiencing snow and sub-zero temperatures. Recently a local news channel ran a story on a homeless man who suffered severe frostbite on his fingers and toes.

Later that week I was going through our freezer, finding pounds of meat, forgotten and freezer burned. It was so much waste. I couldn't help but think they were related somehow... Both forgotten and both preventable.
